EP Review: Saint Raymond – Ghosts

Following an introductory ‘Escapade’ EP transcending into an explosive ‘Young Blood’ EP, Nottingham singer/songwriter Callum Burrows, better known as Saint Raymond is fuelling the fire with his forthcoming ‘Ghosts’ EP.

Fan favourite ‘Everything She Wants’ is the lead track opening the EP on a high. Having been premiered by Zane Lowe as his hottest record, the song is becoming an anthemic creation just itching for festival stages. Indie electric guitar hooks and a catchy chorus pretty much sums it up.

Second track, ‘Brighter Days’ begins on a lighter note of vocals laying upon soft guitar chords before rising to a steadily upbeat slice of Saint Raymond’s familiarity. Another track for the sunny roadtrips and festival tents.

Moving onto a live recorded track for Zane Lowe at Maida Vale, ‘English Rose’ is the most mellow track on the EP. It’s the first time the spotlight is shed on the lyrical creations rather than the hitting instrumentals.

Title track ‘Ghosts’ ends on a note similar to the opening, if not greater. Strong guitar riffs and basslines delving into a repetitive “I’ll be right round, darling won’t you keep me warm”. A definite stand out track of the entire EP – potentially a competitor of Callum’s entire discography to date.

All three EPs from Notthingham songster are setting him up to be one of the biggest breakthrough artists in Britain by our standards, and ‘Ghosts’ EP is flying the flag. Even matched against the previous two releases, it’s in a league of its own.
