EP Review: Greta Isaac – Down By The Water

Welsh singer/songwriter, Greta Isaac is set to release her very first EP on October 20th.

‘Down By The Water’ is a beautiful collection of Greta’s gentle folk sound and captivating ambience. All four tracks each delivering more depth than the next.

It sets off on the title track, a number that has a real feel of The Civil Wars about it – central to the flawless harmonies and almost americana melody.

The lyrical quality and precision is the real focus of ‘Hold Her Hand‘, a song that definitely ups the quality and fate of the record.

The Finish Line’ is quite different in that it’s more of a subtle pop creation rather than a thorough folk track with its piano foundation. Really showcasing Greta’s vocal ability, the instrumentals remain quite minimal.

Concluding on the prominent centre-staged vocals of ‘We Built A Boat’, we see the EP wrapped up in everything it speaks about in previous three tracks; lyrical elegance, flawless harmonies and pure, alluring vocals.

An incredible début EP from the Welsh songstress, showcasing a mass of talent set to take off. Watch this space.
