Australian indie-rockers Animal House are back with Sorry; an EP full of upbeat, catchy gems that could easily be placed next to the best of playful, energy-filled indie that the past two decades has had to offer. Already having built quite a reputation form their energy-fuelled live shows in Brighton, the EP looks set to get Animal House the attention they deserve.
A collection of buoyant tracks, Sorry fuses together indie, surf, garage and other styles to create a unique blend of dirty rock goodness. The EP kicks off with the single ‘Domino’, an outright banger of a tune that doesn’t stop giving you feels of nostalgia at the same time as a sense of debauchery and carelessness. ‘English Girls’ gives you that same garage-rock feel, with edgy riffs and driving beats keeping your head bobbing throughout.
The EP mixed version of ‘Heavy’, one of the band’s first ever singles, then kicks in with infectious vocal melodies and a drum beat that just won’t quit, giving you a sense of the band’s energy-fuelled live performances. ‘Lemon and Lime’ turns down the heat a little to concentrate on the lyrics, then pops back into a rock ’n’ roll chorus that is bursting at the seams with attitude.
Closing track ‘Tequila’, is a mover and a shaker – a party anthem that could most certainly be a set closer with the crowd going wild.
With this collection of catchy songs, Animal House are on track to break the barrier between being an upcoming artist and a festival headliner, and most definitely deserve for their songs to be heard on a much larger scale.
