EP Review: Amber Run – Pilot

Nottingham five piece, Amber Run have recently been drifting into the recognition they deserve, having played fantastic sets at many festivals and live shows this Summer.

Their new EP ‘Pilot’ is set for release on September 19th and takes their alternative rock sound to a wonderfully mature and developed place.

Opening on title track ‘Pilot’, the pace kicks off on 110%, riding on prominent drum beats into an explosion of aural bliss for the chorus of “I don’t wanna be the centre of anything, just a part of something bigger”.

I Found’, the track that appears twice in different states on the EP follows as a more chilled, mellow track. Consisting of minimalist and petite instrumentals supporting bellowing harmonies, this track really takes the atmosphere down a notch (or ten) from the lead opener.

Thank You’ is probably the stand out track of the EP. The strength of everything Amber Run produce comes under this track. Soaring vocals, alternating dynamics and just damn good.

A wonderful third EP from the Nottingham outift, belting out more impressive additions to their repertoire of a skyline calibre.
