The End of an Era for New Found Glory & Slipknot?

On December 13th, Beyoncé dropped her brand new self titled album along with seventeen (yes, that’s right, seventeen) new videos to go with it…

This grabbed the attention of people all over the world. Everywhere I looked, people were talking about it. However, there was two peices of news that no-one seemed to be paying any attention to and to be honest, it’s quite upsetting.

In the evening on December 12th, New Found Glory dropped a bombshell. After releasing a “Kill It: Live”, the bands first ever live album in October of this year, it was announced that guitarist Steve Klein and the band have parted ways. They released this statement on their website:

To All Our Fans,

It is with heavy hearts that we must let you know that Steve Klein is no longer a part of New Found Glory. We’ve had our differences with Steve over the years that have led us to this decision. We love Steve however personal differences have guided this decision and we no longer feel we can work with him. Rest assured that New Found Glory will still go on! After the Parahoy Cruise we are planning to write a new record and start this new chapter for our band. We have not decided on who will fill Steve’s position however we will let you know our plans as soon as we figure that out. We love you, our fans, so much and appreciate your dedication and loyalty to our band. We hope you stick by us during this difficult time.

We love you,

Chad, Jordan, Cyrus, and Ian

The next morning it was announced that Joey Jordison, drummer of Slipknot and Scar The Martyr has decided to part ways with Slipknot. The band had this to say on their website:

joey-jordison

To our Maggots and fans around the world,

It is with great pain but quiet respect, that for personal reasons Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future. It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of Slipknot.

Thank you,
The ‘Knot

Both Joey and Steve were founding members of their respective bands and with both announcing new material on the horizon, will it live up to the standards set by the bands before? All I know for sure is that I’m looking forward to these releases, and perhaps the recognition they deserve won’t be overshadowed by surprise Pop releases!
