Brave New World – (Sky Original) Release Date Confirmed

Brave New World - Sky Original Series

Based on the famous 1932 novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, this Sky original series brings to life a Utopian society where happiness is as common and expected as breathing, but freedom is a thing of the past.

Today Sky announce that all episodes of their Sky Original series Brave New World will be available from 2nd October. The series will premiere on Sky One, whilst the entire series will be available to stream on NOW TV.

The famous Huxley novel has been a staple in English classes across the globe for decades. The novel poses grand questions about liberty, monogamy, creativity, self-sufficiency and the role of the individual in society. It’s a fantastic story, that perhaps speaks more today than it did back in 1932. There have been a few attempts to adapt Brave New World for the screen, but it will be intriguing to see how the story can be extended over a high-budget series.

“As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx (Harry Lloyd) and Lenina Crowne (Jessica Brown Findlay) have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion. Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage (Alden Ehrenreich), who escapes with them back to New London. John’s arrival in the New World soon threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony, leaving Bernard and Lenina to grapple with the repercussions. The three become entwined in a fraught relationship that awakens them to the dangers of their own conditioning.”

The cast includes a wealth of talented and well-known names including Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey). The series also features the likes of Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones), Kylie Bunbury (When They See Us), Nina Sosanya (Killing Eve), Joseph Morgan (The Originals), Sen Mitsuji (Origin), Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Demi Moore (Ghost).

The trailer released earlier this year (see below) depicts some exciting visuals of Huxley’s world, and is rather fittingly backed by I Monster’s Daydream in Blue.

Does happiness and stability come at the cost of freedom? Find out October 2nd on Sky One and NOW TV.
