Atletico in talks over Falcao replacement

After weeks of speculation and rumours linking Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid with everyone from Christian Benteke to Gonzalo Higuain, the Spanish Cup winners look to have shown their hand over who they’ll be signing to replace £50m departure, Radamel Falcao.

27-year-old Roma and Italy international striker Pablo Osvaldo is believed to be in negotiations with the Spanish capital club over an 18 million Euro move.

The former Espanyol forward has attracted interest from all over Europe in recent years before securing his most recent move to Roma two years ago where he amassed a solid 27 goals in 55 games.

The striker looked to be unsellable by the Roman side however behavioural issues over the last 12 months have seen the club become frustrated with their top striker and are willing to sell to Atletico for the right price, a price they appear to be close to agreeing.

A FIFA agent was quoted earlier today as saying “negotiations are taking place, it (the deal) with be worth around €18m”

Osvaldo has been recognised by coaches wherever he’s played as an exceptional talent who just needs to find the right balance; no doubt Diego Simeone will be able to help him with that one way or another.
