Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Details Revealed

After Ubisoft completed their planned cycle of Assassin’s Creed games which coincided with the Mayan’s prediction of the end of the world on 21/12/12, you may have thought that Assassin’s Creed may take a back seat for a little while.

A break in production of the AC titles would leave gamers craving for the game rather than moving towards the Call of Duty formula of releasing a game per year which often leaves an end product which feels rather rushed.

Even though Assassin’s Creed is arguably the best game in its genre combining open maps, which can be easily explored through the Assassin’s free running skills, with an intense hand to hand fighting system. It seemed as though Assassin’s Creed had run its course and AC3 had brought the series to its logical present day conclusion.

But this week Ubisoft have confirmed a small number of details about the next Assassin’s Creed game named Black Flag. The new game is set in 18th century Caribbean and will star Edward Kenway, the Grandfather of AC3’s playable character Connor. The new character is said to be a ‘privateer, assassin and occasional pirate’. Like Assassin’s Creed 3, AC4 will also contain 60 minutes of extra content exclusive to PS3.

There is no official release date yet for AC4: Black Flag but Ubisoft have confirmed that the game will be released in the next financial year (April 2013- March 2014) so it will more than likely feature a dual release on both current and next generation consoles. And if previous releases are anything to go by, expect the new Assassin’s Creed game to be arriving in stores shortly before Christmas 2013.
