Are you Dry or Dehydrated?

Until a couple of days ago, I was sure my skin type was dry/ combination/ break-out prone etc. never seeming to quite put my finger on it. Then I read an article about dry or dehydrated skin from Birchbox Blog and understood that I had been living my whole life in a lie.

But where is the difference?

Dry skin has a lack of oil whereas dehydrated skin lacks water. Dehydrated skin can also be oily, break-out prone and dry.

Dry skin is best combated with deliciously rich facial oils, and dehydrated skin adores two ingredients- glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is also found in your skin cells making it very easy for the skin to absorb. Also, there are many products that contain hyaluronic acid but don’t contain any oil, which makes it suitable for oily skin.

Now, if my preachings are not enough and you would like to watch a 15-minute video about it, turn your heads to Sali Hughes, she also gives sweet product recommendations from budget beauty to £60 per 30ml.

My top pick to tackle dehydration?

‘Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Booster‘ available at Boots.

Now on your next trip to Superdrug, you can show off your superior knowledge and fuss over brands with ‘hydrating cream for dry skin’ (if you don’t see the mistake in that sentence, this article has gone amiss).
