Act of the Day: Ligers (15)

Ligers are a four-piece Indie/Rock band based in London.

About: Set to release their double A-side single on June 24th with tracks ‘Break You’ and ‘Goodbye’, Ligers seem to be gaining support in the right places; from 6 music to XFM.

This upcoming single ultimately highlights the sound which is central to Ligers, showing clear versatility with ‘Break You’ illustrating upbeat elements before ‘Goodbye’ brings the tempo to a more mellow place. With clear influences sparking from different genres, Ligers seem to end up in a place where Indie meets fractions of Rock, Alternative and even a kick of Pop.

Reflecting a slight British rock vibe of Oasis in their instrumental texture, lead vocalist Liz Stott breaks through the cracks with a voice that’s hard to categorize after it leaves the mere Alexz Johnson tone. Having recently performed for Club NME at Koko and many other venues, it looks like this London four-piece are firmly set in their tracks.

Reminds Me Of: Alexz Johnson above the instrumentals of Oasis and The Verve.

Music: Ligers are set to release their doube A-side single on June 24th.
