Act of the Day: Jacko Hooper (14)

Jacko Hooper is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Brighton.

About: Following his début EP in March 2012, Jacko’s Youtube recognition has shot up to over 300,000 views, and it’s hardly surprising. Growing and developing on sounds reminiscent of Glen Hansard and James Vincent McMorrow, Jacko finds the space to push his own style through, creating a wonderfully balanced sound underneath a lyrical honesty.

Jacko carries a substantial amount of experience on his shoulders through the aspect of performance. Having secured slots at the Brighton Fringe Festival and then even bigger, The Great Escape, to name a couple, he’s definitely no stranger to the spotlight.

Currently focusing on a tour towards the end of this year, it seems this young upcoming talent is heading towards his break. He is also knuckling down to master is next release, which is definitely something to look forward to, given the quality of his début. 2013 could very well be Jacko’s chance to put the secure stamp on his talent.

Reminds me of: The likes of Glen Hansard and James Vincent McMorrow.
