Neymar set to complete Barca switch

One of the longest transfer sagas in recent memory is coming to an end as Brazilian striker Neymar is on the verge of signing for Barcelona.

After Santos accepting two bids for the 21-year-old yesterday, the Brazilian announced on his Instagram page earlier today that he’d chosen where he wanted to go and that he’d be signing a five-year contract with Barcelona at the beginning of next week.

“On Monday I’m signing a contract with Barcelona. I want to thank Santos’ fans for these nine incredible years”

The striker, often dubbed the next Pelé, will play his final match for Santos later today against Flamengo in one of Brazil’s newly refurbished World Cup stadiums before completing the switch which is believed to be worth £24m to the Brazilian club, much less than originally thought.

Neymar will then join World player of the year, Lionel Messi, as Barcelona seek to revamp their current squad in an attempt to remain at the pinnacle of their powers.
