The first trailer for the hugely anticipated 50 Shades of Grey was released this week.
The film, an adaptation of the erotic literature phenomenon by EL James, follows an S&M relationship between Christian Grey and Anastacia Steele.
The novel attracted a large amount of criticism for both its actual writing and it’s apparent glamorising of abuse, nevertheless, it has gathered a devout fan base since its publication.
However, despite a lot of hype, the trailer itself feels a bit tame. Dare I say it, disappointingly so.
After they released the slightly underwhelming image of Jamie Dornan in a car a while back, you think they’d go for something a bit more exciting here. Yes, he’s good looking man but let’s face it, the 50 Shades fan base haven’t really been waiting all this time to look at Mr Grey’s Face, lovely as it is.
But the same seems to go for the trailer as well; a minute and ten seconds in and it’s still just people chatting. Still, things seem to liven up a bit by the end.
And that creepy version of Crazy in Love is actually pretty good.
50 Shades of Grey will be released Valentine’s Day 2015. So expect to hear some horrendously awkward first date stories.
