Single Review: Kilto Take – Mimic

Up until now we have had to listen to live recordings of Kilto Take to satisfy our hunger for the band, but now they are finally set to release their eagerly awaited first single ‘Mimic’ on the 7th October. The debut album Resolute drops on November 25 via Medical Records.

A decent track that has awakened me from my indie-electro binge, ‘Mimic’ is a classic indie-rock tune that show how manages to feel fresh and original at the same time. Keeping true to their influences of Radiohead, U2, The Cure and many more.

The track opens with moaning yet atmospheric feedback as the drums of Spavins brings the groove, the feedback builds to reveal a Cure-y bass line as guitar stabs and runs move in and out of the overall sound.

In the verse bass, drums and Crosby’s vocals follow the indie-rock style and builds into a Bloc Party like chorus, “Through you, is his heart, is his heart. Cruel you, you just throw, just throw, his heart away….”

‘Mimic’ will be accompanied by a brand new video in the following weeks, produced by “an amazing motion graphics designer… who has produced experimental work for Radiohead”.

Kilto Take say their “Destined to follow in the footsteps of the UK’s most esteemed rock acts, it’s difficult to think of another powerhouse capable of packing this much punch, so early on in their musical career…” but with a only decent track like ‘Mimic’, Kilto Take could get make it to the top but only if they step up their game.
