Jazz, hip-hop and soul. Busty And The Bass & Macy Gray have concocted a groovy, magnetic sound with their new single, ‘Out Of Love’.

‘Out Of Love‘ is the latest single brought to us from the Canadian eight-piece electro-soul and hip-hop group Busty And The Bass, and this time they’re giving the legendary Macy Gray a new platform to shine bright. The band had previously worked with George Clinton on ‘Baggy Eyed Dopeman’, but having idolised Gray and even covering her own ‘I Try’ for years, this is surely a dream come true.

Let’s look at Busty And The Bass’ backstory. Having each enrolled in a jazz program at McGill University in 2011, the members would meet and create the band we are lovingly listening to today. Their early days consisted of playing gigs for little more than the classic “experience” pay, but following the release of their two EPs in 2015 and 2016, the sky seemed to be the limit. Less than a decade later, Busy And The Bass have a multitude of headline tours and festival appearances under their belts, including Montreal International Jazz Festival and Made In America, playing on the same stage as Radiohead and Lana Del Rey, to name but a few.

Fast-forward to today, and we’re one day removed from the release of ‘Out Of Love’. If you’re only discovering Busty And The Bass right this very moment, there are few better songs to jump on board with. Mixing smooth blues, calming and witty jazz with subtle but present hip-hop vibes, ‘Out Of Love’ flawlessly exhibits what this band are aiming to create and share with the listener. It’s a damn good time, and Macy Gray brings it home with her gorgeous R&B vocals, effortlessly vibing over the beats presented by the funky octet.

If you’re looking for something a little bit different to jam out to, Busty And The Bass are a perfect fit for your playlist. In addition, you’ve come to the right place – as ‘Out Of Love’ is a wonderful tune that would feel right at home in any collection of songs, and it’s out now and ready for consumption.
