Arctic Monkeys sent the Twittersphere into a frenzy last week announcing the release date of their eagerly anticipated sixth album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’.
The band took to Twitter on Thursday to make the announcement. The tweet revealed that the album will be released on Friday 11th May, alongside a short teaser video, as you can see here:
The clip doesn’t give too much away. It features what looks like part of a model space station you’d expect to find in an early episode of Star Trek from the 1960s. ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ then flies in over the top in true Star Wars opening titles style, with what could be an audio bite from the album playing in the background.
Artwork for the album has been released, this is how it looks:
This will be the first album Alex Turner and his comrades have released in five years, the last being ‘AM’ which they graced us with back in September of 2013.
In a press release, the band’s record label said the album “finds the band intent on continuing to explore new musical terrain with each album. ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ ups the ante in a big way; it is a bold and brilliant album reflecting Turner’s ever more comprehensive creative vision.”
The full track listing was also released which is as follows:

- American Sports
