Every once in a while at Fortitude Towers we like to shake things up a bit: this time, we’ve been handed the première of a new anthemic house thumper; step forward Star.One.

The Kent duo have been known to take things on a darker tip from time to time, working with P Money and remixing the likes of Bobby Shmurda to Julio Bashmore. Now though, the summer has grabbed them by the ears and we are handed a two-step / garage sound of the summer.

The original track comes from the Ram Records camp, via DC Breaks, a summer sound reminiscent of DJ Marky’esque Brazilian roots. Alog with the Star.One rework is a VIP and an Andy C special, due for release on the 28th. Listen to the original here.

There have been many attempts to reinvent garage sounds, but Star.One succeed in taking us back to a time when Chase & Status rose from the underground with tracks like this.

The ‘BBC Introducing’ platform recently in Norwich has helped to showcase some of the biggest UK acts in the last few years, from Stormzy, to Ellie Goulding and Catfish & The Bottlemen. Now though, Star.One have been given the mouthpiece, and we salute them as festival season kicks into swing.
