EP: LOWLA – ‘WALLS’

Lara and Lo, aka LOWLA, pride themselves on their denim-clad, ‘90s inspired look and catchy, electro-pop sound. Following the success of their debut single ‘Reckless’, the duo have now released a brand new EP.

Walls is a collection of four tracks, each unique in tone and sound. Ranging from the pure, sugary pop of title track ‘Walls’ – with its infectious melodies and uptempo beats – to the soulful emotion of latest single ‘Those Days Are Gone’, it showcases just how versatile and innovative LOWLA are.

What flows throughout the EP, however, are Lowla’s distinctive ‘90s influences and their smooth, perfectly entwined vocal harmonies. Something else that stands out is a distinct social awareness, a slight move away from the romantic reflections of ‘Reckless’. ‘Money’, for instance, criticises the importance placed on money by society, as the pair exude their impassioned cries of “money doesn’t matter!” alongside intense, racing beats. Of the decision to make music with a social conscience, LOWLA say: “We truly believe in the power of people getting together and making a change.”

Closing the EP is ‘Electrified’; flowing with glitchy, electro beats, sultry vocals and twinkling, catchy melodies, it’ll have you up and dancing in no time. A truly uplifting slice of pop, and the perfect end to this inspired collection of tracks.

Walls, the new EP from LOWLA, is out now.
