In the last few months, as Manchester United’s season has continued to tear apart, social media has been enhanced with photographs containing comical information about the negative records broken at the club.
This season, undoubtedly, has been the most difficult for the majority of United fans in their lifetime who decided to support a club associated with victory and silverware.
Although many players have failed to deliver, many United fans blame their change of fortune on one man.
That same man, who has become an icon amongst the Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Arsenal fans, is responsible for nine new records.
So, David Moyes, we understand this may be rubbing the salt into an already bitter wound, but you now have the time to take a step back from the hard work you’ve displayed this season, and with us, enjoy your complete list of records you’ve exclusively achieved at Manchester United.
1. LOWEST POINTS TOTAL IN PREMIER LEAGUE HISTORY
Despite having four games left to play, United will still finish the season with their points tally in Premier League history.
2. FAILURE TO QUALIFY FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOR FIRST TIME IN 19 YEARS
The last time United missed out on the Champions League was in 1995 when they finished runners-up to Blackburn Rovers. Back then, only the champions were entitled to a place in Europe’s elite competition.
3. WORST HOME FORM FOR OVER A DECADE
Six of United’s 11 defeats in the Premier League this season have been at home. It’s an unbelievable contrast to Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at the club when Old Trafford was the most feared stadium for travelling clubs.
4. ELIMINATED IN FA CUP THIRD ROUND – SOMETHING THAT NEVER HAPPENED UNDER FERGIE
The defeat against Swansea City in January was another home defeat which displayed a massive decline compared to the Ferguson era. Fergie was never eliminated in the FA Cup third round while gaffer.
5. FIRST EVER HOME DEFEAT TO SWANSEA
Oh, and that 2-1 victory for the Welsh club was the first time ever they had beaten the Red Devils away.
6. FIRST EVER PREMIER LEAGUE HOME DEFEATS TO NEWCASTLE AND WEST BROM
West Brom secured a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in September which was their first since 1978. Two months later in December, Newcastle won 1-0 in what was their first away win against United since 1972.
7. FIRST EVER PREMIER LEAGUE DEFEAT TO STOKE
Since 2008, when Stoke City were promoted to the Premier League, United never lost against the Potters. That was, however, until David Moyes took the club to the Britannia Stadium in February and lost 2-1 thanks to a Charlie Adam brace.
8. QUICKEST EVER GOAL CONCEDED IN PREMIER LEAGUE
Although last month’s defeat at home to Manchester City was not as embarrassing as the 6-1 thrashing by their rivals in 2011/12, it did involve some history making. Eden Dzeko scored City’s first goal after just 43 seconds which is now United’s quickest goal conceded in the Premier League and first in under a minute. Ouch.
9. FIRST TIME MERSEYSIDE DUO DO THE DOUBLE IN PREMIER LEAGUE
Both Liverpool and Everton are having excellent seasons and their victories home and away against United definitely helped. The fact Liverpool can now boast a Premier League double against their long time rivals will aggravate fans although Moyes will feel personal pain at the same accomplishment from his former side Everton.
