No-one is born with a lack of self-confidence. It happens over time. It might, however, be good to know that you don’t need to live with a poor self-esteem forever. Self-confidence can be mastered over time. You simply need to find out the best ways to do so.

If you don’t want to allow your self-esteem to hold you back any longer, here are some helpful ways to increase your confidence.

Change Your Body Language

It’s believed 85% of people are struggling with low self-esteem. If you no longer want to be a part of that statistic, you can make a few changes to your lifestyle. Think about how you hold yourself when you are feeling self-conscious. Do you close your arms, hunch your shoulders, or bow your head? Not only will this make you appear unconfident, but it can also make you feel increasingly anxious.

To boost your self-esteem while walking down the street, giving a presentation, or talking to a stranger, change your body language. For example, lifting up your chin and straightening your back will make you feel more powerful, which can help eliminate your anxiety or self-doubt.

Break Big Goals Up into Smaller Tasks

If you lack confidence in your ability, you might feel overwhelmed at the prospect of a big project. Rather than fearing the worst, sit down and identify the small steps you’ll need to take to complete a large task. Doing so will make the impossible seem possible. Once you have crossed the task off your list, you’ll have more confidence in your ability, too.

Prevent the Inevitable

Unfortunately, how a person looks on the outside can often affect how they feel on the inside. For example, you might be struggling with your weight or anxious over a receding hairline. Thankfully, there are things you can do to prevent the inevitable. For instance, you could make a big change to your diet to prevent future weight gain, or you could learn about the different causes for hair loss and the best treatment options.

Exercise Regularly to Boost Your Mood

If you need a quick confidence boost, start exercising. A workout can make you feel stronger, leaner and happier, which can do wonders for your self-image. Endorphins will surge through your body, so you will feel good about yourself all day long. You also don’t need to pump weights at the gym or burn rubber on the treadmill, either. A simple 15-minute cardio workout in the comfort of your home could have you brimming with confidence before you walk out the door.

Spend Time with Only Positive People

Negative, toxic people can strip away your confidence bit by bit. Don’t allow other people’s words or behaviour influence how you feel about yourself. If someone is pulling you down or making you feel pessimistic about your life, it might be time to spend less time with them and more time with positive people. It could be the best thing to do for your emotional health.
