Worcester Folk-Pop outfit, Jasper In The Company Of Others have been excelling to new heights this year, with outstanding festival performances as well as preparing for the release of their new EP ‘King Regards’.
Set for release on September 15th, ‘Kind Regards’ is a bundle of flavourful contemporary folk numbers – some generally upbeat, euphoric tracks.
Opening on ‘Waiting For The Weekend’, the EP presents itself on a scale of deeper, more emotive lyrics before pouncing into soaring riffs and summer-screaming hooks. For the only time in the EP, there’s a slight pop-punk vibe itching through this first song.
Following up on ‘Something In The Water’, the addition of prominent violin from new band member, Ed Roser adds and provokes everything folk about the record – a steady chorus of well blended instruments and overriding vocals.
First single ‘Between The Lines’ and ‘Passive Smoke’ take to closing the EP, the latter being a stand-out track on the EP. Do you ever just hear a song and instantly build an expectation for an incredible live anthem? Well that’s ‘Passive Smoke’ in a nutshell. Its transition from slow burning and gentle to a rapid explosion of colours and sounds just sets the band up for massive expectancy.
